Choreographers
Carley Conder
Carley Conder is Artistic Director of CONDER/trip the light fantastic, founded in Arizona in 2003. Based in Tempe, Carley has invested her time and talents towards providing opportunities for contemporary dance artists in Arizona with events such as the Breaking Ground Contemporary Dance Festival and Tiny Dances. CONDER/dance enjoys artist-in-residence status at Tempe Eye for the Arts and Carley's recent projects include creative collaborations with the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation and UC Santa Barbara.
Carley's choreographic work has been presented at Dixon Place (NYC), Eye for Functioning Inquiry (Brooklyn), Martha Graham Studios (NYC), John Ryan Theater (Brooklyn), and the Diavolo Space (Los Angeles). She was profiled in "Phoenix's 100 Creatives" by the Phoenix NewTimes, highlighted as a featured artist in Southwest Contemporary Mag, and most recently awarded the title of "Creative Trailblazer" past the City of Tempe.
Carley has been the recipient of arts funding through the City of Tempe, Arizona Committee on the Arts, Target Arts Grants and the Consulate Full general of Israel. Carley is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Dance in the School of Music, Trip the light fantastic toe and Theater at Arizona Country University.
RaShawn Hart
RaShawn Hart, a phoenix-based dancer and choreographer. Graduated from Sam Houston State University with his BFA in Dance. Since graduating RaShawn has been performing in festivals both in the Phoenix and Los Angeles area. Besides as setting work on local companies in the Phoenix area.
Joy Davis | joyproject
Joy Davis is a trip the light fantastic creative person & educator steeped in practices of Countertechnique®, improvisation, and operation. She began studying with Countertechnique® Founder Anouk van Dijk in 2005 at the American Dance Festival; was certified every bit a Teacher in 2012 and recently Senior Instructor in 2021. Founded in 2006, joyproject is a framework for cosmos, curation and production of collaborative performance & installation; about recently opening a micro-residency and performance infinite called The Deck in Charlotte, NC.
Joy is co-founder of The Davis Sisters with Alexander Davis, a collaborative experiment in which they dare to perform exacerbated versions of themselves in spaces such as The Yard, Boston Center for the Arts, Bates Dance Festival, Wesleyan Centre for the Arts and Dance|Now Boston at The Dance Complex. Joy besides creates/tours duets with married man Dr. Eric Mullis, collaborates with Charlotte-based Payne Trip the light fantastic toe, and is a 2022 resident artist at Goodyear Arts in Charlotte.
Joy received an MFA in Choreography and Performance from Smith Higher in 2015, and has since been visiting faculty at Smith College, Wesleyan University and UNC Charlotte; Visiting Lecturer at Harvard University and a guest instructor at The Juilliard Schoolhouse. She is an Associate Professor of Dance & Dance Liaison to Career Services and Alumni Affairs at Boston Conservatory at Berklee. Joy lives in Charlotte with Eric and their Pomeranian, Babe Sir.
Spencer Dennis
Spencer Dennis is a dancer and movement practitioner from Phoenix, Arizona. He began his preparation as a teenager at Trip the light fantastic Connection Scottsdale and the Arizona Schoolhouse for the Arts. Over the past 14 years, he has gathered career experiences in both commercial and concert dance performance, choreography, education, production, yoga, photography, and videography. He has performed the works of Brian Brooks, Eric Handman, Amy Miller, Robyn Mineko Williams, Kathryn Chantry, Peter Chu, and more. He has been twice awarded every bit an Arizona Artist of Promise for both his choreography and functioning. Spencer is proud to be presenting piece of work every bit an SCC dance program alumni.
Jennifer Rhea McKusick
Jenn McKusick has been didactics jazz trip the light fantastic toe at SCC since 2001. She graduated from the University of Arizona where she danced with Quinn Williams Jazz at 2 Jazz Dance World Congresses, including the Kennedy Center. She was also a head instructor and choreographer for Universal Trip the light fantastic Association for many years, which enabled her to teach and travel effectually the U.S., Japan and Europe. She performed with UDA on the Jerry Lewis telethon, with La Jaz Danz, Grounding Point Dance Visitor, Theatre League, numerous domestic and international performances with Universal Trip the light fantastic Association, and many industrial shows in Arizona. She is a veteran guess for the National Trip the light fantastic toe Team Championships, which are shown on ESPN. Jenn also teaches at Spisak Trip the light fantastic Academy and is a member of Dance Educators of America. In improver to teaching dance, She has been a fitness teacher at Barre3 Scottsdale/Paradise Valley for five years.
Lisa Thorngren
Lisa Thorngren (MFA, BS) is an Adjunct Faculty in Dance at Scottsdale Community College (SCC) and Chiliad Canyon Academy, didactics technique courses and specializing in Dance Kinesiology. Lisa received her BS in Mathematics from the University of Puget Audio in 2002 and her MFA in Dance from Arizona State University in 2008. Since then, she has received certifications in Pilates, Neurokinetic Therapy® and as a Restorative Do Specialist through Nutritious Movement™, and she helps clients and dancers improve their move and wellness as a movement educator at Kinesphere Center for Movement Teaching.
Lisa'south current expanse of study is the applications of neuroscience and pain science to motion through Z-Health® Performance, and she has presented this information at several contempo NDEO and PAMA conferences. This semester she is teaching Dance Kinesiology, Trip the light fantastic toe in Popular Culture, Ballet and co-directing Fusion Dance Ensemble at SCC.
Shauna Meredith
Shauna Meredith is a performer, choreographer and movement educator. She received her masters of scientific discipline in dance science which has allowed her to work with dancers in performance enhancement and injury prevention, likewise as spark her involvement in the psychological aspects of dance. Her choreography generally stems from a social or psychological insurgence in her ain world that is then brought on to her dancers through imagery, writing, enquiry, and various highly concrete move based exercises.
Kiersten Lujan and Oleksiy Bonkovskyy
Kiersten and Oleksiy take competed and danced together all over the globe from summertime 2018 until winter 2022. Fifty-fifty though we are not competing together anymore, we dearest our art class of Latin American Ballroom Dancing. We beloved dancing and performing together! We promise to share our love with anybody who watches.
Karryn Allen
Karryn Allen has been teaching and choreographing in the Phoenix surface area since 2002 and is delighted to be instruction at ACDA again. She holds an MFA in Dance from ASU and currently works as Residential kinesthesia at Scottsdale Community College and the Co-director of the Dance Program. Although starting out exclusively in ballet, as a dancer Karryn has worked with modern choreographers and instructors around the state including just not express to Abby Fiat, Keith Johnson, K.T. Nelson, and William (Pecker) Evans. Her electric current involvement is the investigation of effective dance educational activity from a somatic and mindful arroyo.
